Spring is here. That means warmer weather, lighter spirits and the most prestigious wine event in Central Europe, the VinCE Budapest Wine Show. Vin stands for wine of course, and CE for Central Europe. Over 160 exhibitors from Hungary, neighboring countries and beyond will be featured. More than 1,000 wines will be on hand for tasting. Hungary is regaining it’s reputation as a world class wine country and the nation’s best will be at VinCE. But it’s not just about wine here, all sorts of gourmet food producers will also be present.
This event gives the casual wine drinker, and the seasoned wine professional alike, a chance to meet the men and women behind their favorite wines. Whether red or white, sweet or dry, you’ll find something to your liking. There will also be a bounty of Master Classes, where some of the wine world’s biggest names will give fascinating presentations. Just a handful of the 30 courses to be given: Talk by Miguel A. Torres, Spain’s most famous winemaker; Demetri Walters on the legendary 1956 Tokaj Aszú vintage; blending the famous Bikavér with Elizabeth Gabay; the world’s best Furmint wines (including the unveiling of the new Furmint glass) by José Vouillamoz ; and 14 wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Kelly Mc Auliffe. Other speakers include Fiona Beckett, László Romsics, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Darrel Joseph and Liam Stevenson.
If you’re in Hungary the weekend of March 17th-19th and you like wine, then don’t miss this amazing event. Central Europe and Hungary in particular are bursting with world class wines. It’s rare to find the region’s stars all in one place and have the chance to taste their best offerings. Taste, learn, socialize and most importantly have have some fun!
I’ll be there on Saturday the 18th. Come and say hello if you see me. I’ll be the tall guy with red hair looking like an amateur among professionals 🙂
